Who needs to be appropriate

Maybe not necessarily the most appropriate inspiration for a college class but thedieline.com seems to give me all sorts of inspiration through packaging. Recently they had a post about a new condom packaging that I for some reason am really drawn to. I guess thats the purpose and if I was gonna go buy condoms I would definitely buy this just because of its look.

Savage kicked my ass. It took a lot of playing around with and having to deal with the border to finally come up with my final 4-page spread for the type book. Below are some of my sketches and my final product.

Savage

I finally got started on my typeface today! I'm thinking of going with the name savage. I'm finding the curves the hardest to make braided and am still working on making it look good but this is where I'm at so far. The final typeface will be done on the computer. The lowercase alphabet is a little harder to work with and keep clean looking. Suggestions please?!

Almost

May 5th is Wednesday.. you know what that means, letter painting time. Finally got it painted and even though it's slightly warping I think it will still work alright. The pink isn't as magenta as I wanted it to be but it seems as though it will work out alright. I'll put up the final product after the date.

TypeFACE

A huge trend in fashion right now is braids. Whether they are bracelets, shoes, hair bands, or actually in your hair they have become popular in all forms. After looking at urban outfitters website I did a lot of thinking, and finally settled on making a braided alphabet. How am I gonna go about this? I'm not sure but this renewed fashion trend is the inspiration for my new typeface. I'm still in the process of naming it but I'm thinking I want to use something native... but I don't really know what that means.

Epic fails

This week seemed to be devoted to epic fails so it could only be appropriate to share these as my process for the week. It seem's no matter how hard I try my z-fold book will not come out perfect which is extremely frustrating for me. It's sunday night and I have had another screw up which means the 15 minutes between class periods will be devoted to remaking my z-fold.. I HATE PRINTING AND GLUE. Hope you enjoy my fails.
